The champs!

Kevin Filer and his crew (pictured here), were kind enough to purchase my blades of glory tshirts (which you can buy here for only $13 including shipping) and while wearing them, they won their corporate regatta, beating out a handful of other teams! Nice work gentlemen!

Check out some other happy purchasers sporting their real blades of glory t-shirts!  Captured on a swing in Ithaca, NY.  And a quiet moment way out west on a class field-trip.

Alumni 8 at the hooch

Current rowers better watch out. There are some alumni out to get them (the list serve has more than 8 people- you think there will have to be seat racing? Rut-ro). Dust off those oars, smack the spiders off the boats. Gear up for the cliff bar and gatorade diet. It's on.

Beat the twinkie

"I won't get into the reasons for seat racing here. I believe it's the best method for selection of a fast lineup, followed closely by lots of work in pairs." Me too. Launch Exhaust gives an awesome sum up of seat racing- which is probably (let's hope) happening on your team at this time of the year.

I'm old now

This past weekend was rowing alumni weekend, and the current team raced at Lake Wheeler too. On Friday the alum had a dinner at Top O. It was a little bit awkward because I didn't know a ton of people, but my novice coach said I HAD to come, so I did. We had to wear name tags too haha. She sat next to me and we talked the whole time- we only see each other about once a year now so it was a good chance to catch up. She lives in Asheville which is about 3 hours away from here. She has a beautiful daughter now too, Bella. Anyhow that was fun, lost of good food- crab dip, sweet potato fries etc. And then on Saturday morning Cali and I drove out to Lake Wheeler to watch the girls race. We got there a little late, around 9, as I walked her at home for an hour first. The girls took on GW, GM, and Duke- and the results were pretty stellar. They raced 8s, and 4s. It was fun because a ton of my friends are on the team, and a few old teammates came too. Unfortunately it started raining and got rather cold later on, so it could have been better. The races went from 8 to around 1. Then we had a barbecue lunch under the pavilion.
